Hello:
Can anyone advise why TanTalk web pages load slowly on my home computer and load faster at my work computer. All other websites' pages load fine, only TanTalk's pages load very very slowly on my home computer. I have a 3 Mega Bit DSL connection at home and at work. Is there some setting that I should change? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Compare the amount of people on the site when you are at home and at work.
The pc's VIDEO, RAM, CPU is all going to effect the performance. If it's only this site then I'm thinking there are less people on when you are at home. ALSO 3mbit DSL is NOT the same for home and business (I don't think). Usually the business DSL's bandwith is a little wider. |

Thanks engfant. The website loaded fine until I cleared some temp files and cookies from my profile in windows 2000 professional since it was huge. I have since restored these files but the problem still persists. I have also re-installed IE and restored all the settings to original, but no solution.
I do not think that it is related to the number of people on the site since everything was fine until I removed some files. As the saying goes...if it ain't broke do not fix it...oh well...that is how I learn. I will continue investigating. You are correct about the business bandwith being wider. I was trying to rule out the connection issue by mentioning my connection speed. Thanks again. |

Some ISPs can and do limit your bandwidth if you approach the maximum they have set for your service. Try deleting your temp internet files then revist the site. Subsequent visits should be faster loading (from temp files). If not, you may be up against your provider. Call them and query why you are having this problem.
