Andy:
Can you please tell me what the database engine is for Helios version 11? I am converting from Helios 9 to version 11. I have installed 11 at home however cannot open the database files with Access 2000. Earlier you stated that version 10 was using Access 2000, has this changed in version 11? I have searched the forum without finding an answer. Thanks |

V11 databases are also Access 2000 databases.
STRONGLY recommend that you only use Access on a copy of the databases unless you are an experienced Access users ... using Access with LIVE databases may make it impossible for Helios Tech support to be of assistance. |

Thanks for the information Andy!
I was getting an error messing trying to open the version 11 dbf's because Windows wanted to open them with Access 97, even though it was set up otherwise. Access 2000 does just fine, thank you. I've worked with Access for a few years and know enough to be dangerous. Your points are well taken. When I was converting Helios data from version 9 to 11, I got these two error messages: Quote:7/12/2004 6:50:12 AM - Error converting Comments - Error#: -2147217883 Description: Row handles must all be released before new ones can be obtained. 7/12/2004 6:50:12 AM - Error opening Helios11 CSumDept recordset - Error#: -2147217883 Description: Row handles must all be released before new ones can be obtained. I got 159 of the first ones that I believe delt with "coments" and only one of the last. Is there any reason to be concerned? You must have both Access97 and Access2000 on your system. If your system is using Access97 by default then open Access2000 first then from inside Access2000 open the copy of the desired Helios database. Once you have done this with one V11 Database then Access2000 should be set as the default (this could be reset back to Access97 after a system restart).
The errors you are getting relate to the Jet Engine on your system needing to be updated ... Tech Support can help you update same (Stuart at Helios gave me this info). FYI ... I get these messages on every convert I do, it has never resulted in an incorrect or incomplete conversion ... but best you discuss with Tech Support to ensure same for yourself. _________________ Andy Thompson Authorized HELIOS Independent Consultant Office: 877-777-6717 CELL: 317-529-0041 andy@myatso.com[ This Message was edited by: Andy @ MyATSO.ca on 2004-07-12 07:52 ] |
