I supplied a computer to a client who owns a tanning salon and does not have a very "good" technical aptitude.

They currently have a computer running Win98 with Helios8 installed. They would like to be able to install Helios11 on the new XP machine I supplied and import the data from the old 8 database.

I've tried installing the Helios8 on the XP machine, needless to say it does not function. There is no documentation regarding this type of upgrade and I have been unable to reach Helios so far today, though I will continue to try.

Any halp appreciated.

TIA

I am sure Andy can better answer this but my best guess would be to upgrade older computer to V9, then install and move data in V9 to new computer, then upgrade V9 to V11.

You will have to either install V9 on the old machine (from the V11 CD you will find a V9.4 CD directory ... NewInstall) V9 being in Demo mode for the convert is fine ... or you can install V8 on the new system and copy the data onto the new system ... again you would install V9 to convert from 8 to 9 and both these versions can be in Demo mode for conversion ... no problem.

Once converted to V9 you can then convert to V11. If you converted to V9 on the old system you do not need to install V9 on the new system ... just copy the Helios9 Data Diretory to the new system .... the V9 to V11 convert will allow you to point the the V9 path.

You would then worry about Pictures if you have then and Release or Contract documents if they use them .... copying same to the appropriate V11 directory.
