Cash Drawer and Printer server

How would I go about running my cash drawer through Helios V11 if I have receipt printer running shared on network with a printer server?

you would purchase a second Receipt Printer and Cash Drawer for the second Workstation.

You can share the Receipt Printer across the network but have not been able to get the Cash Drawer to operate properly.

With prior Windows Operating systems you could Capture a network printer and assign it to a local LPT port on the workstation and thus the Cash Drawer would operate ... no sure function in Windows XP (well I can not find it) ... I tried a NET USE command as well ... no luck (not yet anyway).

From a control point it may also be logical that each workstation have it's own Cash Drawer as well.

I have a Star TSP200 with autocut and it won't autocut when ran in helios? I keep sending inquiries to helios but never get a reply. Why am I paying for a service fee when there is never service???

Not sure what you mean by sending inquiries to Helios ... give them a call and discuss this issue.

As a general rule if you have a cash drawer that plugs into your receipt printer and the receipt printer is shared the drawer should work fine. Signals to open the drawer are sent to the printer directly.

However, if you have a serial (COM) or parallel (LPT) based cash drawer, then you would likely need a cash drawer at each machine.

This is true of our software TanTrack, and most likely any other software using drivers to communicate with their receipt printers.
