I cannot seem to get my metrologic ms951 to work with Helios v11. I can scan a product and I hear the successful beep and the green light flashes but Helios does not appear to recognize the product. I have the barcode numbers for the product codes. Is there a configuration piece I am missing trying to use the scanner ? Or does someone have documentation that describes the setup ?

Thanks,
Rob

No configuration ... just plug and play ... no set up in Helios ... it is a pure extension of the keyboard.

Is it a USB device or Keyboard wedge.

If USB ... try unpluging it and pluging it back in ... need to do that after it loads the drivers sometimes.

If that is not it ... open Wordpad and try to scan in there ... it will not be Helios that is the problem (I believe) ... it will be the scanner or the setup in the scanner.

The MS-951 can add or drop characters based on their position within the code. For example, it might peel the check digit off the end of a UPC code before transmitting it to the PC. In that case if you have entered the check digit in your PC, the codes wouldn't match. On the other hand, the scanner may be calculating and appending a check digit. That wouldn't match your PC file, either.

My suggestion is to do the notepad routine referred to above, and see if the scan you get is exactly what the label says (and is exactly what the computer expects). If not, consult the programming manual for the scanner or talk to a local POS dealer. They should be able to set you straight...Good luck!

btw, I've installed a lot of the 951's over the years, and you really can't find a much better scanner for the money...
