I had Helios 10.1.4 and my computer started shutting off every couple of minutes. I called a technician who got back with me an hour later who said he thought it was just this version of Helios. So then he had me put in 10.2. My computer is still shutting off all the time, today when I had 4 new people at the counter. If I wasnt responsible for the plate glass that computer would have been out the window. Anyhow they said they thought it was just something with Windows (it was bad). My husband said that Windows doesnt just "go bad". The screen was popping up telling me there was something wrong with file C/Helios. Help!!!!

yes, i think it's a new problem surfacing in new Helios installs. i'm having a similar problem using version 11 currently. of course technical support blames everything under the sun except their software/programming.

SunDizzy ... are you saying that your computer is also shutting off every couple of minutes, amazed you would not have mentioned this before during your other posts.

If it was the Helios software causing the shutdown of your computer yoco, I would expect thousands of users reporting that problem with V10 over the last 15 months and V11 over the last 2 months.

Not sure if it is your Hardware or Windows on your Hardware only sure that it is unlikely that it is Helios that will be causing this problem.

Can you describe the term Shutdown a little more please ...

... does your system just "power off", or does it freeze up/lock up
... is there any error message prior the "shutdown"
... if there any other application running on your system
... is this a new system or have you been using it for some time
... etc etc ... as much info as possible ...

currently have done a fresh install of v11 on three computers all running winXP Home/Pro. i am hesitant to do an "upgrade/conversion" install at my salons until i am confortable with this program. two computers are brand new Dell's. The other is a Custom. two are 3.0 and one is a 2.6 GHz. all have a minimum of 1Gig of RAM. the two 3.0's are running at 800 FSB, the 2.6 at 400 FSB. now onto the problem. with no other applications running, when the user attempts to Shutdown/Restart, the computer begins to enter the shutdown process and appears to "hang" at the blue screen which says Windows shutting down... or whatever it says. the shutdown cycle never completes. now if Helios is removed from the computer (uninstalled) the system works fine.

one side issue ... get XP Home out of this equation ... not recommended or supported by Helios

Are these three brand new computers that you have at home to later be used at your salons ... I assume they are since you state you are hesitant to install V11 at your salons.

What other application is it that works fine after Helios is removed.

I am very computer illiterate here so try and understand how I explain it. My husabnd would know more than me. My computer shuts down and it freezes. I have been using this for awhile and only recently encountered the problem. I do not have any other programs running. Although I get a message about the time server often. When Helios is not running and I am in lets say Word Perfect, i have no problems at all, its only when Helios is on. If it sits for a few seconds it turns black and Syntex shows up on the screen, then a blue screen comes up telling me there could be a problem and windows is checking it. After the check it returns to the screen and I proceed back into Helios. And then a few seconds later it all happens again. I have had Helios since I opened in November. Yesterday was very pleasant when I had 5 new people standing at the counter and a few regulars...........

two brand new Dell's and one custom. everything else on the computer works fine before and after Helios is un/installed. they only have the XP OS along with MS Word & Excel XP versions... no additional software or applications except those that are installed with the OS like Paint, Notepad, etc...)

Today Helios says it is because I have Home XP and this should be used with Helios. My husband runs a large law program that shouldnt be ran with Home XP, but he does...What am I paying for here?

read your Support agreement ... it says Windows 2000 or XP Professional ... NOT XP Home.
