How do you Backup Helios 10 without locking tables in the data base. I get "suspended transactions on random clients when i backup"
i was using stomp by veratas. and also backup exec . i see the importance of not loosing the data but every time i back up i get stumped with clients that i cant fix...

We use a CD burner program to back up Helios V 10.2. All you have to do is burn your data folder onto a CD. We use a rewritable and have one for each day of the week. Andy set this up for me when he did our install. It is very simple. Hope this helps!

I back up my data folder but I use a Jump drive works very well. A CD backup takes too long for me:,) and this also allows me to back up other files and folders as well.

Close Helios when you are backing up .... V11 will provide a function for Auto Remote Backup ... in that environment you will be able to backup your data while Helios is open ... but at this point, Close Helios prior to doing your Backup.

You can use any third party software to do the backup, usually related to the backup device you are using. Desirable to be able to set up an automated task than recurring backs up the desired data and/or directories.

It has been released ... you can order the upgrade.

Converts available from both V10 and V9 directly to V11.

Andy, what is auto remote back-up. I am hoping that this means you can set Helios to Automatically back-up daily without having to do anything. That would be nice as you know the problem is usually forgetting to do it.

That is correct ... automatic backup and to a remote location ... no employee intervention or action required ... able to do the backup multiple times within the day ... and while Helios is open and operating.

This concept within Helios came from the WAN techology added to Helios in V10. It requires an Broadband (High Speed ... DSL or Cable) internet connection. This utility is available from Helios related to V11 at no additional cost above the monthly Software Maintenance fee of $39.99, there is a one-time set up fee applicable of $199.00 per location.

Andy, if you do not have an internet connection, are you still able to do an auotmatic back up??( I know this means it cannot be to a remote location, but to still do an auto-back up daily, even to the hard drive would be great.

You could structure it between two computers within the salon ... BUT ... there are FAR simplier ways of doing that.

Not to the same Hard Drive ... limited purpose to that.

The Auto Remote Backup is intended for an environment where you are creating the backup remotely at a remote site.
