Rep Power: 25 | Someone asked about this new device somewhere and I can not find it to post further now that I have more info ... so new thread on topic. The issue they were raising was that at the Nashville show it did not appear to have a high level of reliablity for retrieving clients ... and I would agree at the Nashville show ... I personally only succeeded in bring up my client record one time, dispite many attempts. I just received the new drivers for this device (a little Christmas eve gift) so I could test ... installed the drivers ... configured Helios in System Settings for the Helios Fingerprint device ... registered my fingerprint on my client record ... and brought myself up 25 times ... 100% success ... may times placing my finger at slightly different angle ... ZERO failure to retrieve ... tried other non registered fingers ZERO records found. PREFECT So now with this new device you are able to IDENTIFY and RETRIEVE a client for processing. The prior model of Biometric Fingerprint will continue to work with HELIOS V11 but only as before being VERIFICATION, rather than IDENTIFICATION. Anyone ordering this new device that wishes to help me and mine a little, could ask that "Reference: Andy Thompson" be recorded on the order. Thank you. |

Rep Power: 25 | With V11 they are both USB devices. Not sure if the Biometric Fingerprint device can plug into the Dongle or not ... that might be good, saving a USB port ... but regardless with the number of USB devices available now, if your system does not have 6 or so USB ports a USB Hub our be desirable. There are different Dongles applicable to different configurations. One for straight POS, a different one to also support the BioMetric Fingerprint device and a different one to support the WAN add-on. |

BUT, supposedly, Helios puts some sort of coding into the device to where it "talks" to the Helios program, which the OTC versions do not have. either way, i don't think they're worth it. |
