Andy,
When I was in Nashville I was told that V11 would be out after the 1st of Dec. I just called them and they said at least a month. What do you know about this? I'm having flashbacks to the promised V10 release I am still on v9.4 because I run my eft's through helios and wouldn't have the capability in v10. Based on the credit card processing feature and your high praises of V11 I am anxious to switch over. Also I have signed a new lease for a new location (Finally) so I will be soon needing to set computers up their also. Hopefully 11 wil be out soon enough to do both salons at the same time. Also I thought they said v11 would use the same dongle as v10, when I called Helios Tech support afew minutes ago they said no, it would use a differeent dongle, is this true? |

I am very comfortable believing that V11 will be out the door in December (and Gene, I mean Dec 2003) ... I did Beta testing over your Thanksgiving weekend (our Thanksgiving is on the 2nd Monday in October here in Canada) and it looked very good ... a few small issues that I reported but nothing large.
V10 and V11 ... very different animals ... V10 MAJOR restructure of the BackBone of the system, and the ripple effect thru the application and reporting. V11, nearly NO CHANGE to the BackBone, just a fresh look to the POS screen and a whole bunch of new add on features ... the basic POS process also only slightly modified to eliminate a few popup windows. The convert between 10 and 11 will take a VERY few minutes ... just do what is right for your needs. This will be a painless upgrade I believe. Yes, you will exchange dongles again with V11 from V10 ... that way Users like yourself that have paid for ongoing Software Maintenance, benefit from the enhancements that you are paying for and those that cancelled do not ... sound fair Lee. Never could purchase Helios outright ... but I believe I know what you mean.
Users did in the past pay for a Software License for Helios, granting you the non-exclusive right to use the copy of the program in a single location (see Helios License agreement that you agreed to upon installation of the program). You then also had, as now, the opportunity to subscribe to a Software Maintenance Agreement to entitle you to receive ongoing program enhancements and updates as issued by Helios. With a Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) in force you are entitled to FREE (included) Technical Support during normal business hours (and outside of normal business hours for a $30.00 per event fee). Helios as of June 2000 in the US and June 2001 in Canada became available without the initial License Fee, Users only need to subscribe to the SMA ($39.99 USD per location per month) to receive ongoing program updates and all related features, functions and technical support as described above, and although I would recommend against it, this SMA can be cancelled at anytime and you can is you wish continue you use the then current version of Helios at no ongoing cost or support. _________________ Andy Thompson Authorized HELIOS Independent Consultant 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca ACT Help Desk[ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2003-12-02 21:49 ] |

I did BETA testing for HELIOS Development over the American Thanksgiving weekend .... LOOKING GOOD MAN ... had a couple of pages of small issues that will take a very short time for development to address.
I also of course (got to be me) provided an list of desired enhancements to be considered for future updates of V11. In the V11 to be released tomorrow, Friday December 19th, be aware of the following:
A following desired enhancements mentioned earlier in this thread have not been completed in this initial release of V11. 1. EFT OFFLINE Processing does not at this time include taxes, this will continue to be addressed and will be incorporated in early 2004. The new Online processing of EFT transactions within Helios V11 does handle taxes properly. 2. The Bed selection screen will continue to be a popup as it now is. It includes the Skin Type and Date Last Tan ... plus in early 2004 it will also include an additional User Defined field, chosen by the User ... this relates to and could be used to display such things as Lotion Bottle/Bag number or Meds or Shared With, anything desirable from the User Defined fields at time of bed selection. 3. Canadian Users ... discussions with Moneris are ongoing and incomplete ... Credit Card processing within Helios will not yet be possible for Canadian Users.
