I have a 6 mo. old Gateway p4 2 gig. xp pro,
about every 3rd new client I go to save and print a release Helios locks up.I have called tech support many times and they say it must be the printer (lexmark E 210 laser)
I recently got a new fax 4in one ( lexmark x63)so I switched printer for the client release forms, and It still does it. It locks
up the computer and prints the release and the printer keep running paper through them until the trays are empty and I have to Ctrl Alt Del to get out ????? Has this occured to anyone before,It can't be that both of the printers are bad.

At the risk of sounding like Helios Tech Support ... "I have never heard of that before" ... just kidding.

What version of Helios are you using ... V9.4 or V10.whatever?

Does the printer act like this is you printer from Word or Wordpad?

My first thought is an Operating System problem. Give us the answers to the two questions above and lets see where that takes us.

If it was XP Home ... I would suggest you should have installed Helios using the Win98 Compatibility mode ... without that MANY strange things can and will happen.

Have not had the same situation with XP Pro but then again have not had this sort of printer problem either.

I would agree ... unlikely that both printers are bad ... but I guess the Printer Port could be an issue ... do you have the dongle connected to the same port as your printer.

The dongle will definitely conflict with the Multi Purpose printer ... if they are on the same port you should really change that ... the usual problem if they are is that you can not get Helios out of Demo Mode.

Just to be sure ... have you updated the dongle driver, the one that comes on the V9.4 CD is not appropriate for XP and usually just does not work ... www.marx.com ... VERSA LPT

Let us know if anything above helps or points in a positive direction.

USB printer should in no way impact the operation of the dongle, so that should not be the source of the problem.

I honestly do not know what to suggest at this point. I have not experienced Helios causing such a problem before.

I have the same printer (Lexmark 210) on XP Pro with no problems. Make sure you install the latest XP driver off the Lexmark website. Are you using the USB or the LPT1 port?
