Does anyone run 2 monitors from the same CPU? I was told I could but don't know how. It would sure ease the front desk crunch.
Thanks
Pam

I know Michael has done this within Sandollar Tanning Resorts.

Windows XP has that ability built in as I understand it. You would I believe need a second Video Adaptor to connect the second monitor to.

Michael or John could to clarify anything that I have miss stated.

You can purchase a second video card and a second monitor. Windows XP or 2000 will allow you to use both. I use 2 17" LCD's on my system (Compaq Evo W4000) with a dual headed video card (Nvidia Quatro 200NVS). You can pick up a dual headed video card which should simplify things, as far as having drivers for two different cards at once, and connect your two displays that way.

This may sound stupid but with all of the stuff you have to buy to run the second monitor why not just buy a second computer and run two stations instead of two monitors.

I think that is what I would do Rich. Pam it would be easy to network them together and you could do sales from both puters. And of course you would always have a back up puter should one go on the fritz

Rich, you are comparing the cost of a full system to the cost of a monitor and video card.

Someone that would consider this has a specific need ...

Your call ....

You can run two monitors on any computer with Win 98 SE or higher. Make sure when you buy the second video card that you puchace it for the correct port, probably PCI, most video cards today are AGP but your computer will only have one or no AGP port depending on how old it is. Windows will detect the new hardware and install the drivers but you will have to adjust your "Display Properties" to enable the second monitor and identify the physical placement of the two monitors.

As for the reason of having two monitors instead of two computers. Two monitors give you more desktop space so you can have two full sized windows open at the same time and teh mouse will move seamlessly between them, the purpose of this is to eliminate bouncing back and forth between two windows.
