Rep Power: 22 | Hi, My Hair Salon, where I'm adding four Ovation tanning beds is not running with a PC. Ten years and we have never felt a need. Anyway, am I going to HAVE to add a PC to run tanning. I hear all about computerized tanning beds... but the tanning salon I go to now has no pc.. just a device on the wall to set the tanning beds. Can you please explain this to me. I am going to Heartland on Monday, and I would like to have all the info I can get before. Thank you. |

Rep Power: 27 | Computer makes it so much easier to deal with. It tracks sales, visits used, lamp hours. Inventory and you could even set your hair salon up on the service menu. keep track of everything. I bought an exsiting salon 5+ years ago and didn't get my computer system inplace for a couple of years. I really don't know how I ran the salon without it now! computers are very reasonable now, I would definately get one set up with the timer database. You have more control this way. Less freebies, and theft as well. |

Rep Power: 25 | Hi Laura, welcome to a FUN industry. Mitzi has outlined a number of the advantages of using a Computer System in your Salon. These are a number of good reasons to consider it, and the sooner in your operating of a Tanning Salon you can do it, in my opinion the better. Now understand, I do not own or operate a Salon ... I provide independant Training and Support to Salon Operators mainly on one of the Software Brands available in the industry. In the Tanning Industry it is common to offer Memberships and/or Prepaid Tanning that allows clients to use the session/minutes/time that they have prepurchased and a computer is valuable in controlling and tracking this utilization by your clients. It will also assist with your Inventory Control and your Point of Sale activity. A manual card system tracking your clients and Cash Register are an alternative, but offer no control of employee activity. Regardless whether you decide on Computer or Manual ... you will want/need a Timer Manager at your Front Counter to control and start the individual beds. TMax from Applied Digital and Database from SunTimer Systems are the two most common Timer Managers that I see utilized by Tanning Salons ... I am sure Heartland can help you here. Then back to the decision ... Computerize or not .... well take a guess what I am going to suggest ... right. Laura, get DEMO from the various Software Company and give then a spin ... as I said I provide independant training on one (Helios - 888-936-5160) but there are others that you can consider as well. If you decide to proceed with computerization and choice Helios, I provide an offsite service that assists a Helios user get up and running quickly. Would be please to provide this service if you deem it desirable. |

Rep Power: 22 | Laura .. What state are you in... Check the regulations. Generally you cannot allow customers to control their time (you must have total control within +/- 10%) ... My advice is yes computer! To not only keep up with who, what, when.. but to control timming issues... |
