I've wanted for a long time to connect my Helios 9.4 to my T-MAX Manager to control my beds. I'm in the IT industry by trade, so it's almost embarassing that I've owned the salon since August and not done this. I asked a bed tech how to set it up and he said, "look, your serial cord is right there. Just plug it in." (For 5 months now the serial cord had been hanging off my T-MAX, just waiting to be plugged into my PC. GRR. That's what I get for being lazy!)

Anyways, I go into the system config and tell it to Autodetect the timer. It finds an "API" (or is it ADI?) timer on Com 2. It doesn't find "T-MAX" as I suspected it should? When I go to enter a session, there is a short delay and then it says there was an error communicating with the manager. A modal window pops up with no data.

Do I have to do something on the T-MAX to tell it to monitor the connection? I also want it so the bed can only be turned on from the computer, not from the box, how can I do this? Thanks!

Hopefully someone from TMax tech support will add to the following.

You are right, it should have found the TMax on your COM port ... but I have seen this happen a few times.

You know it is TMax and assuming COM2 was right then just set it to that setting in System Preferences AND you may also have to set it the same in your Timer Server Program ... Yellow box in the SysTray.

You also want to make sure the COM port is set to 9600 baud.

The Computer will take control of the TMax once you send time successful.

There is an administrative setting in the TMax, I believe to require time settings be received from the computer and an admin password to re-enable manual operation in the event of needing to do so.

TMax Tech Support may add more here, or you can give them a call ... once you have the initial problem resolved.

Hope this helps ...

Andy,

Thanks for your prompt response. I'm checking in with the T-MAX people via e-mail now, and will post any reply I get from them in order to help others.

Chris, just to clarify ... should not need to do anything (except maybe cycle power ... likely not even that) to allow the computer to send time ... the admin function in the TMax would be to re-enable manual operation if needed.

Best of luck, and appreciate any further info as you said to help others ...

Andy,

Thanks for jumping in.

Chris,

Andy is right. You don't have to do anything to the T-Max Manager to make it communicate with the computer. Try running ADNET2000 (it came with the manager. If you dont have it you can download it from our web site). If ADNET2000 can communicate then you have something setup wrong in Helios.

Sorry I did not respond earlier. I'm still in Hawaii on my Honeymoon.

Kevin,

Thanks for the prompt reply both via e-mail and here online. I was just coming online to post your reply, and alas, it's here!

I'll get the software from the web site.

Congratulations on your [presumably] recent marriage. Here is some marital advice: sign off. Stay off. It's your honeymoon! Your in hawaii! Enjoy! Hope you have a fabulous time.
