Rep Power: 22 bsmart will become famous soon enough
Andy, here's one to ponder. During the height of tanning season, March 2002, I had problems with SunTouch 2000 ver.7.13.XX whatever, which ended up crashing my computer. I had to replace it with a new Dell which is was superfast and came with Windows 2000 XP. Home Version?? We also went with the newest version of Suntouch that was available at that time. Anyway, this system has worked just fine until lately. The last month or so, its been getting really slow. We typically leave our computer up and running ALL the time and I decided to turn it off and see what happened. BIG mistake!! It never re-started....just kidding, just kidding.

When I started it back up and opened Suntouch the system acted as if there was nothing wrong! It ran at normal speed, responded to each click of the mouse, crisply and accurately. Lightening quick!! OK, thats great but WHY? A days later my employees are complaining again about it running SLOW. I took a look and they were right, it was doing the very same thing again!! I turned it off for a few minutes and BAM, worked just fine again. Whats going on with this?? If you need any more information, I'll gladly try to answer any questions. I DON'T want to go thru again, what I went through earlier this year at the busiest time of the year again. That was a NIGHTMARE!!

bsmart,
Open the task manager and check to see how much of your pagefile is in use. You may be running low on physical memory and the OS is swapping portions of memory to disk (the pagefile or virtual memory). This can really slow a system down (hard disks are several thousands of times slower than modern memory systems).

If you only have 256MB, try adding another 256MB or 512MB to your system. Also, make sure that you defrag your drive. XP includes a free utility, but it really doesn't do that good of a job, and you cannot schedule it. I like Norton Speeddisk for that.
