One question guys. I have two computers that I purchased from Helios with all the extras including the thumbprint scanners. When I networked the two computers together to be able to put more people through my salon at busy times I ran into a problem with the devices. One computer would work just fine, but when you tried to use the other thumbprint scanner I had to go into the view option under preferences and choose the system defaults. Then go to the peripherals and change the ID# even though the one that I had connected to that computer was the same # that was on the bottom of the thumbprint scanner. What is going on and any ideas of what I need to do to be able to use both workstations simultaniously?

I am not looking at it right now but somewhere in your system defaults you need to number each one a different workstation number. I believe it is the lower right corner of the site info page. Mark LAN and number one "1" and the other "2". I can look later and get more info.

secretsun02,
as Teresa stated, you need the two different serial #'s in the Sytem Default Preferences for each workstation .... actual in the center right part of the Perpheral tab. On the Site Info screen you need to have 2 System Files one for the Helios Server and the other for the Workstation ... if you are using 9.4 you would have been forced to set up 2 records to properly network the workstation. Why not purchase a DigitalPersona Thumbprint device locally for under $100 and guess an ID#? Since the actual unit shipping from Helios vs. your local reseller are identical... except for the ID# label on the bottom?

"Many of us had Thumbscanners, I tossed mine. It did NOTHING in real life but slow things down. Any moron with an IQ of over 100 could bypass it, and staff HAD to override it all the time, and if they had overrride authority, they could circumvent the machine." |

The internal code is already there ... digital persona but it there (unique to each device) during manufacture (as I understand it). The Helios Software interface to the device simply requires authentication against the code. This code is not published anywhere on the box or device, that is why Helios put the code on the little label to allow the user to enter the "code" in the Helios settings.
