Andy,
I just hooked a new dongle up to my computer that I have at home. I only use this computer to reconcile at home. Periodically I bring a backup from the store and do a restore to update home puter. My question is this: I installed the dongle and now I get the error Helios has detected a date problem, please call technical support for help. The last time I updated the data was 9/13/02. Today's date is 9/30/02. I think I remember reading somewhere that if helios is not used for a few days there is a date problem, if this is the case is that the same problem I am having?
Thanks!
Lee
PS: The above message came up when I went to sell a product.

Lee, you are correct regarding the problem being related to the fact that the last data is from 9/13/02 and today is much beyond that.

Helios includes data checking security to insure that an employee does not back or forward date your system to attempt to record a transaction outside of the current window of operation.

The simpliest solution here is to do a current backup at the store and restore that backup onto the system. With current dated transaction problem should be eliminated.

If you do need to use that old data, call me or Helios Tech Support ... inappropriate for me to post the necessary actions here for all (employees) to see.

I have been waiting several months for the newest version of Helios - any information you might have will be great - I keep hearing "it will be out the next couple of weeks" for months! I'm getting very frustrated

What is the time frame that helios can be out of use before this becomes a problem. The reason I ask is in the event I was to close for remodel, after how many days will it lock me out?

Join the crowd Char I've been inthe same boat. I finally pretty much decided to quit asking. In the beginning I thought I would install it as soon as it came out. Now I've changed my thinking. I will wait until it has been out awhile and actually working smoothly in other salons. I don't want to be a the one that helps work through the glitches that are sure to happen in the beginning.

You can not back date even one day.

You can have no transactions for two days but not three.

The solution is very simple ... with proper confirmation of Ownership status either Helios Tech Support or others, that know how, can advise you how to get around this "problem".

CHAR ... no further info, except now the invoices for new Helios shipped actually read V10 Dongles, but they are still actually shipping V9 ... I really do not see that as progress ... sorry just kidding.

CHAR, what are you expecting in V10 that has you so concerned. The V10 they distributed at the Vegas show had some but rather limited new functions or features. If it is related to the promised WAN Version of V10, that may be a separate issue entirely to the release of the base POS Version 10 ... not sure on that one.

When V10 does finally see the light of day, I for one will recommend to each of my clients that they not be in the first few hundred to officially use it. Try it, test it ... sure but not live until MANY people are singing its praises.

If you are a long time user of Helios and remember the initial (or for that matter ANY (except the last)) release of V8 you will know what I mean.

V9 is the most stable version of Helios since the DOS days of V6 ... convert away from it with caution.

Just one mans opinion ....
