I was speaking to a Helios User in the MidWest yesterday.
They are SUCCESSFULLY using a STAR TSP200 series Thermal Printer, with a MMF Cash Drawer connected. It was model TSP212 - Parallel, with the same "phone" cable connection to the Cash Drawer as SP200 Dot Matrix printer. They also used the Generic / Text Only driver. One problem they were having related to an extra 6 or so inches of paper feeding at the end of the receipt. Had another User this week with that same extra 6" of paper feed with a SP200 series printer, Helios Tech Support directed the User to delete the Printer and Install it again - it worked no more extra 6" of paper feed. I have not personally tested the TSP200, but thought it was worth passing on the experience of the Helios User in the MidWEst. All the best .... _________________ Andy Thompson ACT Business Solutions Toll-Free 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca ACT Help Center [ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2002-08-30 10:44 ] |

Michael, the printer that Tony had in his office back in March was a TSP600 - not sure if it worked or it there are different features.
If you could locate a Star distributor in your area - maybe they would let you try the various models. With "Salon Works" in the future of Solarsoft - we are going to be causing a lot of POS printers to be sold - I am sure STAR would want to work with you on this. |

Andy,
Here's an update on the Star TSP200 (TSP212) printer, after removing the "generic" printer driver and re-installing the printer, the additional receipt problem disappears. The printer is working un der Helios 9.4 just like any Star printer on the Helios recommended list. _________________ A proud member of Don's Army Cancun Rayz Tanning Salon http://www.cancunrayz.com Kent A. Excellent news - thanks Kent
Just to clarify, Kent was having a problem that about 6" of receipt paper was feeding after the printing of the receipt. Very glad to hear that reinstalling the Generic Driver fixed it. _________________ Andy Thompson ACT Business Solutions Toll-Free 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca ACT Help Center [ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2002-09-08 07:39 ] |

In Windows - Printers delete the Star (Generic) printer and reinstall. Use the Generic / Text Only driver and do not change the name of the driver.
When asked if you want to keep or replace the existing driver replace The Helios Website is www.heliospos.com You will find many helpful tips in the Help Center of my website. http://www.atso.ca Hope this helps ... _________________ Andy Thompson ACT Business Solutions Toll-Free 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca ACT Help Center [ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2002-09-09 13:01 ] |
