Here is a link to Helios Website that shows the Recommended Hardware Requirements.

You will need one COM port (standard with most systems) to connect your Timer Manager (TMax) - Serial port.

You will need a Parallel Port (LPT1) (standard with system) to connect the dongle (copy protection device from Helios) and Receipt Printer (if you are using a Receipt Printer (Star SP200 series). If you are using a Cash Drawer (MMF) it would connect to the Star Printer.

You will need a USB Port or a second Parallel Port (LPT2) to connect a Report Printer. If you are not using a Receipt Printer you can connect the Report Printer through the dongle on LPT1 - caution here some printers two way communications conflict with the dongle - I prefer to keep report printers away from the dongle on LPT1. Multi Function Printer (Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier) more often cause conflicts - if using a MF Printer connect it to USB port or LPT2.

If you are using the Thumbprint device you will need an additional USB port.

If you are using a Camera for client photo you will likely need an additional USB port (depending on its connection method).

If you are using an external ZIP (backup device) you will need an additional USB port (assuming it is a USB device).

Depending on the number of USB ports needed and available on your system you may need a USB hub or expansion card - USB Hub is very easy to install - Windows 2000 and/or XP - just plug it in (basically).

If you use a Scanner for scanning UPC codes off of products etc - most scanner connect simply through the Keyboard and need no additional ports on the system.

I think that covers all the possible peripherals and the related possible ports that you may need. Some of the above items may not be applicable to you.

Hope this helps

PS: you have some work to do to get Helios set up and ready for Labour Day - if I can be of service I would be pleased to discuss same with you.
