Hi Andy,
I am setting up my new computers and installing Helios V9 and something has come up. I have finishing restoring all files from the old computer and have opened up V9. The following error keeps popping up, Refresh CP – Item not found in this collection. Number 3265. Do you have any idea what that is referring to? I am next going to connect the T-max.

By the way, in following your instructions to restore the files into V8 and then run the conversion . . . I got the error 3024 – couldn’t find file. So I did the restore directly into V9 and that seemed to work. Can the above error (3265) be a result of this?

I also just noticed that none of my sales codes or inventory codes are on V9. Also no passwords and employee info. Is that correct that i will have to do all that manually?

Thanks for you help, Tammy

Tammy, sorry for slow response just got back from being onsite with a client for the last two days.

If you are saying that you copied your V8 data directly into the V9 Directories rather than doing a convert of the data from V8 to V9 you are in major unknown territory.

One of the primary databases even has a different name between V8 and V9 so I need to understand want you actually did to comment further.

Hi Andy,

I talked with Helios yesterday and found out that the 2 databases are not compatable and that's why it is not working. They did not know why V8 in the new computer wouldn't accept V8 restore from the old computer.

Here's what they told me to do . . . install V9 on the old computer and run the conversion from 8 to 9 (I shouldn't have to mess with the dongle since I'm only using the utilities). Do a backup of 9 on the old computer and then restore it onto the new computer into 9. It really sounds like it makes sense but I can't do it while we're open so I'll probably stay late one night this week to do it.

He also suggested that the reason I couldn't get the second computer to recognize the dongle was because I didn't have a fully functioning program on the server.

My next concern has to do with the t-max. Is there any reason to think that it won't be compatable with something. I'm not sure how it's functioning compares with other hardware connected to a computer (such as a printer), and wonder if I will need updated software or something to get it work. It's been so many years that I hooked it up I don't even remember what I had to do. Any insights on this?

Another question I have is this: if something doesn't work with the tmax and I have to abandon the work until the next day when I can talk to someone, can I still use the old computer after I have done the conversion? Does the conversion copy the information to the new version or does it actually remove it from 8 onto 9? If so, can I "unconvert" or would I just connect the dongle and use 9 on that computer?

Thanks again for your help, Tammy

Doing the conversion on the old system does make sense, if necessary - that should work OK (VERY strange regarding V8 install on your new system).

You will then do a V9 Utilities Backup on the old system and Restore onto the new system.

The improperly converted V8 data into V9 would most certainly affect the proper operation of the Helios LAN (Local Area Networking) function. This may not be your only issue here but you need to get V9 properly converted before it has a chance of working.

The TMax Manager issue should not be a problem, Helios will manage the TMax and has all the software inside of Helios.

Your current V8 system should be unaffected by the conversion to V9. You can most certainly continue using V8 after the convert to V9 if necessary.

I have many clients run a convert and get comfortable with any changes before redoing the convert for real. Doing a second convert later overwrites the first convert as well, so no problem there either.

Just do not be doing real transaction in both system. All real transactions in V8 until you truly convert and then all real transactions in V9.

Hope this helps, all the best
