Rep Power: 0 | Well today I have received the Helios demo I requested. The packaging says V10 but the disk says V9.4 (what a relief). Just for laughs, I counted the word FREE 10 times on the cardboard mailer and another 7 times on the service agreement. Whatever happened to truth in advertising? Anyway, I am going to install it on by back office computer which has Windows XP home on it. Wish me luck. I'll keep you posted. Tammy |

Rep Power: 25 | Tammy, there are instruction on the Solarsoft Website in the Photo Gallery - Knowledge Base that show screen shots of setting the Compatibility Mode for installing Helios V9 on a XP machine. You may also have to download and install the updated Crypto-Box drivers (in the Download - Utilities) section of the Solarsoft Website. Try it without this download first, do it if it does not find the "dongle" (not sure if you have actually order the dongle yet or not - if not this will not be any issue until you do). Let us know how it goes, all the best. |

Rep Power: 0 | Well, even though I got an error about DPUtils.DLL not being found, the program seems to work. I did not install the crypto-box stuff because I didn't know which one to select and the program still works. I don't know what I was expecting but it looks and works exactly like the V8 I'm using now. Am I missing something or why would I even want to update? Can anyone tell me the differences they noticed when updating from V8 to V9? The only advantage I see is being able to set beds from both computers. Thanks, Tammy |

Rep Power: 25 | Tammy, the type of Crypto-Box device is Versa - LPT. The overall functionallity of V9 is very similar to V8, it is nearly 2 years since I worked with V8 - that makes it a little difficult to remember the differences. There is some info (limited and not complete) at the end of the ReadMe document that you will find in the Start - Programs - Helios9 list. A significant number of bugs present in V8 were fixed. New Features: The Timer Server you already referred to The Bed Recommendation Feature is also new - it uses the first accumulator in Equipment Status to recommend the bed with the least Hours Used. The Yellow Focus Highlight New functions in Sales Codes Intelligence - Value/T and Value/S and the Step functions. The Print Check feature in EFT processing Tammy, the above is what comes quickly to mind - I may be missing some but ..... I guess the most compelling reason to upgrade to V9 - would relate to how are you going to get V8 installed and activated on your new computer. |
