Rep Power: 25 | While testing V10 on my Laptop which has Win2000 Professional operating system I encountered the following problem. I attempted to go back into V9 to compare a function. I WAS UNABLE TO START HELIOS V9 Got a RunTime 372 Error - Failed to Load Control Mh3dList from MHLIST32.OCX I attempted to just rerun the V9 Upgrade this did not solve the problem. I had to do a complete NewInstall - that solved the problem. If I had live salon data on my system, I would have had to Backup or copy the Data directory AND any Contract or Release form that I had modified BEFORE doing the NewInstall. Then restore or copy back same after the NewInstall. Now that I have V9 running on my system, V10 will not start - getting a Becubed Systems message and a message box stating the V10 generated errors and it aborted. I reinstalled V10 - all is fine but again V9 will not start. With prior Helios updates you could install the new program and take it for a test drive and still continue processing with the prior version - this does not appear to be the case (easily) with V10 When and if you are ready to upgrade to V10 - please do a backup of your V9 system BEFORE you begin the conversion. Hope this helps _________________ Andy Thompson ACT Business Solutions Toll-Free 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca ACT Help Center [ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2002-08-30 21:59 ] |

Rep Power: 24 | Sounds really bad......thanks.....don't do the upgrade till helios has this problem fixed. Is it a bug or a "security" thing? Helios should keep the salon owner in mind when they make such changes to the software. If they don't take care of the salon owner the salon owner will change the software they use to an other brand. |

Rep Power: 25 | Most likely the issue here is that there is an upgrade to a OCX (driver/program) file that V10 used compared to V9. So the V10 upgrade installed a driver/program that V9 is not compatible with and the reinstall of V9 puts the driver/program back to a version that V10 is not compatible with. Not using the same name for the applicable driver/program would avoid this problem. _________________ Andy Thompson ACT Business Solutions Toll-Free 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca ACT Help Center [ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2002-07-04 10:14 ] |

Rep Power: 24 | Do you not think this is not a mistake, that they don't want you to be able to go back to version 9 from 10 or use both versions, that the incripted ver 10 data file will clearly not be able to be used with verion 9. This is a forced upgarde and lock out from going back to ver 9, They say it is to better the product. The same happened from version 6-7 and 7-8 then 8-9 there were data base conversions i think. If i go to system file in helios it states my data files are converted from ver 6. Yes I stated with version 6, it was just released and was still buggy. It had the dreaded "duplacate records not allowed" bug. |

Rep Power: 25 | NOTE: There is a V9 upgrade (V9.4.5) in the Helios9Upgrade Directory in the Upgrade Directory on the V10 CD. Helios have directed a user to make a copy of the current Helios.exe and then copy or drag and drop the new Helios.exe from the CD. I have not tested V9.4.5 so offer no comment as to its reliability, but confirm that Helios does start with V10 installed after upgrading to this new V9 executable. _________________ Andy Thompson ACT Business Solutions Toll-Free 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca ACT Help Center [ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2002-07-04 21:38 ] |

Rep Power: 25 | Danno, I have not had any problem with it in my testing (comparing results in V10 to V9) It was only a new executable, so logically there are no changes in the Database structure compared to V9.4 There is no reason to install this on production system related to Helios 9 - only on a test system for reviewing the "current" status of V10. |
