In another place Scott H posted:
I've got two sales code that I set up for one time only purchases. If you run one and then try running the other one they error with the response that you can only use it once. They are completely different sales codes...I know the answer is out there in one of those great minds... The following was my response: Well I will be darn - this caused me to figure out something I had always wondered about but never remembered to ask "the man". That little box to the right of the Allow One Time Option - it does have a purpose - not only a purpose but in this case Scott H - a REQUIREMENT. In the Client Table in the Helios Database there are 3 fields that record OneTime Codes. It is NOT the sales code that gets recorded in these fields it is the value you put in that little box. It has to be a numeric value and can be up to 4 digits in length. If you leave it blank in the sales code, the system will store a "0" (on codes that you indicate are Allow One Time) therefore two Allow One Time Sales Codes, with no "Allow One Time indicator" will both react to the "0" and believe they are equal or related, and not allow the second to be sold. On the sale of a fourth sales code with a different Allow One Time code the first one is removed from the Client table and could be sold again. Just remember that the system will maintain control of up to 3 Allow One Time Codes. So if you have more than one Sales Code that you wish to control by Allow One Time - put a value (ie: 1 or 2 or 3 or whatever up to 4 digits) in the "little box to the right" of the Allow One Time indicator and away you go!!! - controls up to 3 Allow One Time codes that you sell. Hope this helps _________________ Andy Thompson ACT Business Solutions Toll-Free 877-777-6717 andy@atso.ca HELIOS Training On-site and Off-site Set Up Service[ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2002-05-07 07:18 ] |

An additional benefit of this approach would be that you could have different Sales Codes that are related to the same "Promotion" or "Promotion Type" and only wish to allow a customer to purchase one of these different sales codes.
Give each of the applicable Sales Codes the same "Allow One Time" indicator and the customer will only be able to purchase one of them. Neat eh!!! |
