bad advice, both clients will tell you they are shorted sessions, when ever we had shared sessions in the past everyone of them claimed to be shorted. We do not get caught in that trap, if you are going to sell "that" way why not sell all single sessions at the 20 session price, per session. |

We haven't had a problem with client's saying that they were "shorted". Helios keeps a history of all codes entered at the POS and this is printable at any time.
A few times that clients have inquired why they don't have the # of sessions left that they thought they did, we print it out and walk them through it. Since the client #'s are entered, they are tracked... We can tell you exactly who used your tan and when. -Tommie- |

Chippp, regardless of the fact (as stated above) that I suggest to many clients that want to do it - THAT IT IS IN MY OPINION A BAD IDEA - not everyone sees it that way.
Actually, an almost funny thing happened to me a little over a year ago - in a seminar I strongly made the point that, in my opinion sharing was a bad idea (also giving my reasons, including the possible customer problem you refer too), WELL one of the attendees went up one side of me and down the other - STRONGLY suggesting I had no right to tell her how to run HER BUSINESS. Are you suggesting that telling a user how to do it most effectively, once they have decided for themselves to do it, is bad advise. Sorry, I do not see it that way. |

When I was on the card system I did allow clients to share, husbands, wifes, children.
But when I went to software completely, I stopped it. They were some that were unhappy but what I do now is this: I offer 3 sizes of packages. 5-10-15, this way if someone is just wanting to tan a few times they can buy the smaller package, even though per session price in more, they are not buying more than they will use. Another plus to this is if a client comes in and has run out of sessions and don't have the money for a larger package they will buy the 5pk. instead of single visit until they have more money with them. Works pretty good. The more they purchase the better the per session price is! |

Chipp,
You seem to have a lot of advice to share. I was wonders what you experience in tanning in? How many years in the industry? How many years with Helios software and what version you started on? How tanning units you have? How many locations? If you do not want to answer that is fine, I just figured that with all of your experience you must have a large chain and been in the industry a lot of years. |

My salon is 20 years old as of this spring, its tanning and hair, It was just tanning for thr first 2 years, I do not know anyone that has had a salon that long, one location, don't want any more, its all booths, I have used Helios from when version 6 was first out, they didn't even have a manual out yet for it . The salon is just one of my interests. My goal to to not have any retail in a few years, to let tenants do the work, just to have my rental properties. I don't want to do the 9 AM to 9 PM much more.
I want lots of time off:) _________________ Tanning Booths, for people that want only the very best. Fast, Comfortable, Dark Tanning and Hygienic. Don't get booth envy, get a booth.[ This Message was edited by: Chippp on 2002-05-22 16:05 ] |

If you are going to let your clients tell YOU what to charge, what packages are going to be like , etc. You are in deep trouble or are soon going to be.
The salon needs to run based on what it costs to run , not what a client thinks or wants. In that case you can bend over back wards and pay your clients to use your salon. You can only bend so far, before you bend yourself out of business. |

a story from out past, one clients buys a 10 session package on sale 29.99, we don't make a cent, its a sale, , the client after paying says 5 people are going to use it, we set up file client files 5 of them, with out geting paid for the extra work, 15 min later , we now have 5 people tanning with no profit and tons of work trying to watch them all, and keep the seesions they use straight, they pile in and run in 5 different directions, touching every retail product they can, the sessions have to be master edited in to begin with, then tracked while used.
We spent 1/2 hour proscessing them 1/2 hour watching them rifeling the retail, and 15 min printing out and explaning why each one didnt have 10 sessions left. they came in together or one or 2 at a time, we didn't raelly know who was who, Then the say so and so took 3 and i want my one I should have one left and that person took that and that person should have not take that and ITS ALL YOUR FAULT! After the 10 sessions are used and tracked in helios, they all say they should have and want more sessions. We print out all the files 15 min later they all tramp aand then leave. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. When does it stop, how desperate are you ? |
