We opened a new store on December 1 and have been using Helios on the XP Professional OS and (knock on wood)it has been running quite smoothly. The computer was new with the Home Edition and I needed to change it to the Professional edition. If we have any bugs, I will be sure to post. However, I do not want to wait until something happens...has anyone else tested this over a period of time?

I wanted to let you know that 9.4 DOES WORK on XP Professional. A couple of months ago we decided to move from the card system to Helios 9.4, they said it would only work with XP Professional. Now in my case I went to Gateway and had a pc built with XP Pro on it and I have never had a problem since. Now I am the last person to ask technicle questions to, but I just wanted to give you some assurance that it does work if everything is in place.

I am a new salon owner. Without knowing about potential problems with Windows XP, and went out and bought a new computer with Windows XP already loaded on it. I was told by Helios that XP Home was not compatible. Well, I tried it anyway. I am only running Helios with my XP Home on a "Workstation Computer" My server with helios is Windows ME.

However, despite helios telling me not to use XP Home, I have for a month now (as a secondary computer) and have not had a problem!

Am I Lucky, or will I see the results down the road???

I wonder if it is because it is a "new" computer. (I did not upgrade to XP Home)[ This Message was edited by: Paradise on 2002-01-20 20:26 ]

I am currently running SunTouchPlus and love it. I tried the demo for helios and couldn't do enough in it to decide if I like it. I also see that many of you are having problems with running it in XP. I have not had any problems with SunTouchPlus. Has any one had experiance with both and what are your views?
Thanks,

teez,

helios works fine in windows xp. you should use xp pro, but it can work alright in xp home version. it's also better to have a clean install to xp and not an upgrade from a previous version of windows. of course, that's always the best course when it comes to windows.

helios is much, much more powerful and secure than any version of suntouch. also, much more streamlined and efficient in it's use, especially during busy season when you might be doing 500 people per day.

the helios sales code feature can be complicated, but it is able to be configured for almost any realistic scenario in your salon so that when your staff uses a code, every vital action pertaining to that code happens automatically, so you don't have to depend on your staff to remember to do so much to a particular client's account. helios does it for you.

the reports are also superior and the way it uses a t-max timer system is much better as well.

there are many other features that are too numerous to mention here. i suggest you contact helios and have them run through a demo with you. you also might check out the various tanning sites for comemnts on either software.

hopes this helps,

Will not work with xp unless you have the full 9.4 version you can not load the 9 or 9.2 and the 9.4 upgrade.
