When, how often, where to increase prices?

everything is going up, should tan pricing stagnate?

Increasing prices may not be what you need depending on your price structure. There is a standard pricing that can be used based on your market, equipment mix and overall value of your product. You should instead think about increasing how much each of your tanners spends annually.

Ideally having a client base that stays active year round will increase income. Simply raising prices unless you have under priced your services may actually lower your annual income. What and when you should do can be determined by evaluating your salon and market.

Single session pricing should always be very high, That establishes the value of that system as well as the value of your packages and memberships.

ya i got rid of the early bird 50% sessions that didn t work or drew little, on the lvl 1's, kept them on the 18 and 25 dollar sessions for a few hooked on it, raised my weekly unlimited, no complaints on those yet....

I have to say Steve I don t care what others rip you a new one for, but you know what you are talking about.

As far as tanning prices I think your market will dictate whether a increase will be tolerated or not. If you're going to increase your tanning prices the slow season is the time to do it.

One thing we did was evaluated everything we sell and increase all of our high volume sellers. Price increases are 100% profit increases. Here some examples of what we did.

Peepers $3 to $4
Wink Ease $.50 to $.79pr

We sell thousands a year of each of these which in turn was thousands of dollars with zero work.

Another thing we did was all of our lotion bottles prices were changed to reflect a 9 at the end. For example, a bottle of Adore retails for $105. We sell it for $109.

Lotion packetts prices were changed to the nearest whole number. For example, a packett of Adore retails for $14.75. We sell it for $15.

Another thing we did was change all of our price tags on our products to reflect this. The shorter the number the more you will sell regardless of how high the number is. This includes the $ sign. We've actually increased a lot of prices but appeared to lower them.

$150.00 = 149
$75.99 = 79
$21.99 = 29
$13.99 = 19

Single sessions and session packages must be the most expensive way to tan. Also your price structure will be the foundation for offering specials at the appropriate time.

yes, but the PO had specials 24/7 that when against the publish "normal pricing" and everyone got and expected the special prices and the normal( higher) prices was ignored buy everyone, it was just there to anchor the packages, just to say they are not paying full price

when up a buck on lvl 3 stand up and .25 cent to round it up to a even 15 bucks for my lvl 2's no one even flinched/noticed

Re: When, how often, where to increase prices?

I have a question regarding pricing.. What do you price a 1 mth pass on any given level? Do you price as far as taking the total price of a number of tans? Would love to get some input.
