Rep Power: 12 | What do you give as "rewards" After listening to a webinar the other day I decided to try something that was mentioned. Two of the people who were speaking for the webinar said that they did away with the membership fee. They said it made it much easier to sell memberships (EFTs) and they've seen their numbers grow. So I decided I would give it a try. The one thing I am having problems deciding on is how to do "rewards". I've never had any and decided it was time to start, but not sure how to go about it. I'm a very small salon so I'm looking for ideas on what everyone else is doing. |

Our EFT's don't have contracts so what we found is that if they don't pay for it, it is too easy to drop it. Now we give away a FREE bottle of lotion with each sign-up. Customers like FREE and it gets them started with a good lotion. Makes our tanning bed performance look better vs not using a lotion. |

However during the summer months where selling memberships are more difficult, waving the membership fee is a good idea. It is always easier to sell something when you charge less. By doing so you may be leaving money on the table. Don't make the mistake discounting at the wrong time. Sometimes speakers on webinars are salon owners that may not be giving advice that is best for you. In most cases they are just telling you what they are doing. They are not always high grossing salons. With any advice it may or may not be best for your salon. In my opinion you should always have a membership fee for membership packages, in some markets and depending on the salon you can even make it an annual fee. Don't leave money on the table. Maybe instead of eliminating the membership fee, charge the fee and give up grades equal to the membership fee value. This is one of many options. | |
