I guess you just dont know what you just dont know. So you penalize an entire generation of people brought up in a cashless environment? WOW!

How much do you charge to accept cash? Understanding that cash cost to handle one would think you should do the same. In fact, I'd argue depending on your daily sales that cash in MORE expensive to handle than credit cards.

BTW, I'm a cash only spender and avoid the businesses that break their price structure down the way you do. It appears that you're just trying to make another buck off your clients.

Are you whacked? It cost $40 a month just to rent the stupid machine to take their stupid cards! What planet are you living on? I paid over $2,000 last year in swipe and other fees for the priviledge of taking my customers cards. $1 per transaction doesn't cover that cost.

Re: Things Common To a Successful And Declining Tanning Salon

Labor to count and sort excessive cash $10 a day x 30 = $300 a month
Labor to drive to bank $ 10 a day x 30 = $300 an=month
Gas and wear and tear on vehicle $ 10 a day x 30 = $300 a month

Just guessing you spend $10,000 a year taking in your cash. Just in case you say "I don't know what I'm talking about", let's cut it in half to make you feel better. You'll only be spending $5,000 a year! NICE JOB!

$2,000 a year sound pretty good to me!

You don't do 2,000 transactions per year?

Do I not have a right as a private business, to set my own rules as to how I run my own business? Do I not give them options? We also take checks what's the big deal? There is a grocery store chain that charges you .$25 to bring our shopping cart back to the store.

You are so far off the deep end, I don't know where to start.

1)My labor to accept cards and cash is the same.
2)We don't make daily deposits and when we do, we make them ourselves on the way to get our Starbucks.
3)My car is a business expense anyway

Heck, I did not even mention the hassle of dealing with chargebacks, cancelled CC's and reconciliation of batches everyday.

I have to write a special work instruction in my store just to teach employees how to manage the stupid machine. And they still find ways to screw it up....my instruction for cash: put it in the drawer.

Yes you do rent them. What are you talking about? Unless you buy them upfront. They now have expiration dates on them, that make them obsolete every 3-4 years, so buying them really does not get you anywhere.

You can try to put lipstick on that pig if you want. But it's still a pig

I didn't say I did 2000 transactions a year. I said I was charged over $2,000 by my CC processor for the transactions they processed in 2014. I may be guessing, but I would bet that most salon owners could find better things to do with that $2,000+.
