Or are you a fine dining/ high end salon in a high income area/ with high end equipment, and an upscale experience/ with higher prices? In this case your PSA will be higher.
I agree only to a point. High foot traffic also means more lamp changes, higher utility costs, and higher rent. Below $10 average per tanner (which is the only measurement that really means much) makes it pretty tough to be profitable. Most operators are figuring out that selling memberships allowing clients to tan every day in big VHR beds doesn't work.

exactly, in order for the fast food approach to work , you keep your overhead low which includes buying cheaper machines that are cheaper to change and consume less electricity

Re: What is your PSA

how does higher foot traffic make your rent go up?

Re: What is your PSA

Higher traffic locations cost more rent than low traffic locations. Unless you are way smarter than your landlord.

Allowing clients to tan everyday in your high end beds only works if you have lots of clients buying the same package, and hardly using it. I'm thinking of doing away with unlimited packages, and offering only session packages. Anyone doing this?

I can only agree with more foot traffic means more lamp changes. July is always my highest electric bill, I run half as many sessions in July compared to April. Rent is a fixed expense, it only changes once ever 3-5 years.

If your pricing is done properly it shouldn't matter if clients tan every day in VHR. I believe there are those that do tan more often than others but in the end it all averages out. If pricing is done correctly.

Example - $25000 in month's sales divided by 2,100 tan sessions would equal a PSA of $11.90.

Do the same for each employee to see who is most and least effective at the counter and to establish goals.

You should not have to do calculations, your software produces these reports. This is not about tans this is about percentage of sales made.

This is also a reminder to run many different reports to determine which packages are selling which are not. Which marketing is working. Reports allow you to evaluate the performance of individual staff members and of your salon. Get involved by knowing exactly what is going on in your salon. Use these reports for motivating better performance.

Really Steve? You mean my software can do that, whoda thunk?

As I recall at the beginning of this thread, Suncitypembroke asked "How do you figure all the above and how would effect the salon $$$, Example if you will."

Your next three posts failed to give Suncitypembroke any idea of how PSA is calculated, so I did. Your posts might be better received if you directly answered a question every now and then. Reading a number on a report can be meaningless if a person doesn't know how that number was calculated.
