Rep Power: 12 | Money saving idea? I opened Feb 2013. I learned a lot my first year and have made some changes. I'm trying to find ways to cut expenses. Right now I provide cheap aerosol deodorant, and some facial wipes, in each room. I go through the facial wipes very quickly and would like to find a cost-saving replacement. When I realized I was going through a lot of paper towels in the bathroom, I put a pretty basket of rolled up, white, wash clothes and posted a framed message to use them vs. paper towels. I can wash those which saves me money and saves a tree or two. So I got to thinking. Have you ever been on a plane that offered free hot towels. Light bulb idea!!!! Why can't I do that. I can ask the if they'd like one as they go in. I could even offer a chilled towel after they exit. I haven't researched equipment yet, but wondered what you think. |

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Money saving idea? We get the generic baby wipes that come in a nice container, then just buy refills for customers to remove their makeup as we WANT customers to tan. However, we never keep vanity items in the rooms as we need them to clear the rooms quickly and not apply makeup, etc. Also, we bought these dispensers (hope the image shows up), for the bathroom and sunless rooms only, from Sam's/Costco and get the refills there as well. I find that cheaper than laundering additional towels. For us, it added professionalism while the round design dispenses from the bottom which discourages over usage and keeps costs down. In tanning rooms, we only have regular tanning towels that get washed. Hope this helps!

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Money saving idea? using unscented baby wipes is a good idea. Call the phone-internet-tv company and ask for some rebates, ask them their best price if you sign up for 36 months, and when they come back with an offer ask for more. Same with your cc interac machine and fees... call and negociate term, rent price, etc. using pre-measured soap pacs for the laundry saved me much on soap ! Same with softener... i use sheets what about a small .50 increase on your sessions ? In my salon, they find baby wipes, kleenex, makeup remover, a towel and eyewear, and a mirror in each room. My customers really appreciate this extra. |
