Rep Power: 20 | Re: what happened to us You have a very specific target market, probably because of your location. How big is your college? 15k? That means if 1/10 people tan, you should be tanning 1500 people in peak season. hmm....I bet their are a lot less 18 year olds tanning than there were 10 years ago. They read glamour vogue and cosmo. They are slammed full of negative articles about UV light and indoor tanning. Liberal rags with liberal spin is killing your biz.- Sorry Steve, you can't market your way around that. |

But seriously I believe the media attacks have won! Fortunately just like people still smoke...people still tan. I see the small guys closing up shop as they don't have the staying power to stay in it.

You always make the foolish assumption that we live off of small margins. Sorry but we have excellent margins. We have a different market then we had 5 years ago. You have to make the proper adjustments to thrive in the new market place. The media attacks have done damage but they surely have not won! In the end the truth will win. It will take longer to win because our troops on the ground are poorly capitalized, poorly motivated, poorly organized and poorly trained!

As I have said before, if you can run a salon for $100,000 a year and get 2000 people to eft at $10 a month, you can put $100-150k in your pocket per location per year. I would love that "slim" margin.

Rep Power: 20 | Re: what happened to us I bet 100k overhead is exactly what he is shooting for (or less). Standups are small and easy to maintain. No need for high AMP electricity for HP. You could put 10-12 standups and 4 spray boots in a 1200 sq ft space, which is 1/2 the size of his competition. No bed cleaners needed, fully automated. Oh yeah I bet I could run a place like that for well under 100k a year. Dude, I run a 20 bed salon with massage and spray for 50k a year. |
