Rep Power: 0 | New Location - Cost to Convert to Salon Has anyone had to convert a retail space into a tanning salon? I was wondering if you had to pay for it or did the landlords and then work that into the rent? Any help would be great. |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: New Location - Cost to Convert to Salon I have done many buildouts. You can negotiate that either way. If you do it yourself, you normally can negotiate reduced rent, or even free rent for a period of time to compensate for your expense. If you are handy, you can actually save a lot of money through this process. There will be some things that the landlord will be willing to do; electrical and HVAC upgrades, walls to split the space and floor covering. Beyond that you will probably be on your own. The longer the space has been empty the more willing a landlord will be to negotiate these things. The guts of a salon is really easy to do, and many folks buy the used prefab walls to make it even easier. Paint, and trimwork can be contracted or done yourself. The more you are willing to do, the better. Unless you have zero skills. |
