Rep Power: 0 | Marketing opp. w/ Bridal shop Since wedding season is coming up, I decided to stop by a local bridal shop & see if I could drop off some free tan passes (all I had intended at first) for either employees or their clients. After having a long conversation with someone there, I recieved a phone call the next day at work asking if our company would be interested in doing a promotion link-up with theirs. I was really excited, after reading the email especially.. as they offer: -in person, instore, promotion to brides during their special events and sales. (this means I can set up a table with all of my info, tools, etc.- and meet the brides personally) -bi-weekly leads sheet delivered either electronically or via usps- complete with names, addresses, phone number & email, etc. (I am already supposed to be getting these leads from the MALL we are located in, which sucks because the demographic in this mall as far as shoppers go, is usually african american) -our marketing materials made readily available to the local store -invite to webinars The "catch" (which isnt much of one), is that they offer a 1yr contract for $235/month. May seem like a lot, but the company (will remain unnnamed as this is a deal in the works) is the largest bridal retailer in the country, and are international as well. In our city, definitely the first/only place for a bride to go. My club owner is really the one responsible for financials, as the salon was financed by him. I have run this by him and he stated "back out of it now. too much time and effort" Honestly, it will be a LOT less effort than my normal expeditions- maybe more time- but garauntees a better turnout for the salon. He is very cautious of doing anything which requires spending money. We dont even have towels for our clients. My question is for any other salon owners out there (who have financed their salon, and in charge of expenses)... would this be something you would consider for your own salon? Why or why not? Thanks all :) edit: he also stated.. "most brides dont care about spending money on the way they LOOK on their wedding day". Most outrageous extreme comment I have heard thus far. not sure how to deal with this. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Marketing opp. w/ Bridal shop Personnaly, i would prefer to give them a box of 250 "free tan" business cards and ask them to give them to their clients (1/client) then see how it goes... out of the 250 given how many came back to your salon... and how many actually BOUGHT something... then you must consider if they continue to tan after this ... On the other way, if you have marketing material and TIME to sit there (at the time the brides will want... and will they want o listen to you in all that stress?) 2820$ is the annual cost of you contract... add your time/gas/marketing stuff i would calculate it this way profit made on lotion + package (assuming they buy both at your salon) let's say it's 60$ for a package and 60$ a lotion... total 120$ assuming it's extra business, it bring you about 60$ gross profit out of this 60$ you may have tan taxes etc depending on your situation... but keep it at a very nice 60$ this means that you'll need to get at least 50 new brides per year to break even on your contractual fees... in a perfect world... out of the brides they will send to you, some of them would have tanned with you anyway so they don't count in the 50 clients... Personnaly i wouln't do it in my salon |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: Marketing opp. w/ Bridal shop I know who this is and they will not do anything other than their structured program. It is a corporate decision only; the local manager cannot offer anything else. I would not do it; you could spend that $2,820/yr. in other ways and get a higher ROI than working with a bridal shop @ $2,820/yr.
