Re: Hiring Bed Cleaners

There are several salons in our area that make the clients clean their own beds too however we do NOT. We make sure all our customers know that they do NOT have to clean their own bed and we will take care of them. All they have to worry about is just getting that beautiful color they are looking for.

Re: Hiring Bed Cleaners

I don't use bed cleaners, never have. A waste of money; it actually distracts the POS person, because they end up chatting with the bed cleaner most of the time. A bottle of Lucasol mix and paper towels in each room has worked for 21 years.

At our salons there is no way we would let one person do 150 tans in 1 day by their selves because we think the customer services tends to fall off when the employee gets to many tans while running the whole salon.

Anyone else have any thoughts or comments?
I dont care who it is, I dont know anybody that can run 150 by themselves...that is way too much to handle for 1 person..If you are doing those numbers you have to hire help!

We do 200 at peak times and run our store with 1 person. You have to set your store up to be able to that. There are stores that run with no dedicated person.

I guarantee your sales are suffering if you're trying to take care of that many clients with just one employee in the salon. One employee simply cannot spend the needed time with each client that that is needed to maximize sales and still keep the salon operational.

Is the 200 in a 12 hour period or more? Are there 30 beds? Does this 1 person do a 3 hr, 4 hr, or 6 hr shift or more?

This example doesn't make much sense with the limited information you have given.

And how does saying "There are stores that run with no dedicated person" help in the questioner's situation? Are you really advocating no live person on staff? I don't care if your state allows it, who really would want to do that? That comment is off the reservation IMO.

The questioner is contemplating a bed cleaner. Giving pros and cons is one thing. Giving such an extreme example with the connotation that if you haven't setup your salon "to be able to do that" then you have missed the mark is not constructive.
