Rep Power: 0 | My beds are HOT!!! I have 4 beds that just get so hot!!! It is only January and the heat should feel good, but if I have had 3 people in a row in a 12 min bed, they are complaining (not about the color, just the heat) Any suggestions on what I should do when busy season comes and I don't have the option of letting them sit for 15 or 20 min? I have thought about putting free standing fans in there, along with spray bottles of water...any ideas??? |

I have the AC set to 56 during the busy season, not so much now, but my rooms do not have ceilings on them, so the heat rises (I have 18' ceilings)....so its cold in here in the AM and hotter than Haiti's in the afternoon....my shop faces North, so I don't have any direct sun in here. |

Base beds .5-.75 tons VHR beds 1.5-2 tons HP beds 3 tons This is on top of what is needed for the salon itself which is normally 1 ton per 300-400 square feet. Fans only move the air around, they do not provide cooling. |

Well I bought this salon 7 years ago and I have no idea how much AC is in here, BUT I am sure its not enough and I am not going to add more AC to a place that is not mine, especially with my landlord, but its the inside of the beds that are hot, do you think if I had a spray bottle with cold water to spray on the bottom acrylic before they tanned? Just letting them sit for 15-20 min to cool down a little during busy season just isn't feasible. |

Also - as movieking and gravesmc pointed out - adequate AC and the fans working properly makes a difference. If you are SETTING the A/C to 56 - and it is still hot as Hades - it means you don't have enough for the space. It isn't able to keep up with what you are telling it to do. Finally - the voltage to your units can make a difference. If it is too high, it could cause some units to run hotter. | |

Like sunsally said what beds do you have? untill we know this not many answers will help. Did you just open? Ac is never thought about when people uneducated about the industry buy salons. I was one of them with my 1st salon. You cant look at upgrading your AC like your improving your landlords building. Its part of doing business. You could add portable air conditioning to those rooms to help. make sure the fans for the bed works and its not stuffed up against the walls.

My standup (Suncapsule 220 Watt) is towards the front of the salon and that one gets hot, but I know why it does....I am sure that I do not have adequate AC in here, but I will get my electrician in here to check the voltage and I will double check the fans and make sure the filters are cleaned....thank you for all the suggestions! |

No, I have been open 7 1/2 years Caribbean Tan Man (bought an existing business) and it is not possible to vent outside, so all that hot air stays in here which I know does not help, getting portable AC units would be an option and I know not upgrading my AC to improve my landlords place seems silly...but I do not want to give that man any more than I have too, but that is a whole different story ;) |
