Accounting & Sunlync

I need some assistance on using sunlync data to enter data into quickbooks for accounting purposes. 2 questions,
1) Quickbooks uses "UNDEPOSITED FUNDS or MAKE DEPOSIT" when recording a SALES RECEIPT. The make deposit would be great if the cash was always 100% (coins short, over drop, under drop, etc) and merchant fees did not come out of the credit card deposits or payments of EFT declines . Anyone have any ideas who to properly make this work. The way I do it now it, record the sales receipt which goes to "undeposited funds" The go to the check book and enter the DEPOSIT ANALYSIS data from the Daily sales report, and enter those totals against account I created SUSPENSE. Then each month I make a General Journal entry to move from SUSPENSE to UNDEPOSITED FUNDS. it works but its hookie. ANY IDEAS

2) EFT ACCOUNTING. OK example, save you have $10,000 in EFT, (I am leaving out tan tax for simplicity) $9,000 approves, $1,000 declines. STEP 1, I enter sales of $10,000 as above with $1,000 going to accounts receivable. STEP 2, I enter the $9,000 into the check book accounting for merchant fees. But here is my problem, throughout the month, $500 of that gets paid at the store and the customers tan again, that $500 goes against the A/R but the remaining $500 is still carried, They did not tan, I am out nothing, I could write it off each month, but lets say that show up next month and pay it or on a resubmit it does get paid, but then that would mess up the A/R, I could write it off in January of the next year, but that would skew P/L each month. SO I am at a loss as how to properly do this. Anyone with accounting and Tanning Salon knowledge would be helpful.

Re: Accounting & Sunlync

Pacsun,

My Name is Jennifer and I work for SunLync. I forwarded your information to our development team as we are working on an integration with Quickbooks scheduled to be released in the near future. I know this isn't a "technical support" issue per se, but thought you might be interested in knowing about our future release.

Pacsun-

Did you ever figure this out? I am new to using Quickbooks for a tanning studio but pretty versed using it for an HVAC biz. My accountant really simplified it for me because we will use the reports out of Sunlync for our returns.

The daily upkeep has been pretty simple now that they showed me LOL

Can't wait to hear more about the integration with Quickbooks!!

Not to give anything away, but if you plan to attend the Vegas Show this year, stop by our booth, we MAY have some really good news for you!!! ;) If you can't make Vegas, ask our tech team about Quickbooks after the 28th of June.
