Also, High school kids "hanging out" is a disaster waiting to happen. Hope they don't steal him/her blind while gone. | |

Serious paying customers don't want to walk into a lobby that is a daycare for HS kids looking to hangout and tan for free. You need to run a business and not a social club. The obvious reasons as well, why the salons were for sale to begin with...just get in-line, it will happen again. |

They are representing your business and if a client comes in for a tan and sees someone standing behind the counter texting or playing on the computer, they are not going to want to come back. They also dont want to see the drama that comes from someone who is just there for the free products or tans. They dont have your best interest at heart. You cannot fire them legally, as they are not on payroll. If they get hurt while they are on your premises, are you covered by insurance? I dont know where you live, but here in Canada, certain types of jobs you have to have workers compensation insurance. I think it is now called WSIB. These days , everyone is suing everyone else and if you are caught doing something like trading work for services, then you could lose everything for your 12 week night course....is it really worth it? How well do you know these kids? How do you know that they arent just going to have their buddies come in to tan and work out for free? Cant you find a family member that would do this for you instead of a few teens? Im not saying that all teens are like that, as I have a teenage son, and I have had my share of crappy employees that were grown adults that I have fired but atleast find someone to put on the payroll. |
