EFT Rookie needs help

For those of you that do EFT....a few questions...

do you offer to have the funds withdrawn from credit card, debit card, savings accounts and checking accounts....or do you just go the credit/debit card path?

any recommendations as far as a sign up fee?

minimum term recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

I tried to do a search on EFT, but it came back with no matches....what's up with that?

Re: EFT Rookie needs help

search needs more than 3 letters. Try "EFT membership" or some thing like that and you'll find threads.

do you offer to have the funds withdrawn from credit card, debit card, savings accounts and checking accounts....or do you just go the credit/debit card path?

We do credit card/debit only

any recommendations as far as a sign up fee?

We use $27 - and give it back to them in "upgrade credits". So we explain it as "basically free" - and get them to get in the habit of using upgrade units.

Some salons use the difference between EFT and a single month. So if EFT is $20 and a month is $45, the sign-up fee is $25. Again, that can be "explained" as it is just "the same" as buying a single month but after the first month it is much cheaper.

minimum term recommendations?

We use 3 draws. The first month is prorated, then 3 runs after that. So it could wind up being 3 months 1 day if they signed up at the end of the month or 3 months 29 days if they signed up at the beginning. Doesn't matter - it is 3 draws at the salon.

The shorter the "requirement" the more you'll have sign up. SOME will cancel right at the minimum - but the majority will NOT. For EFT have to focus on the majority/average, not on the couple of outliers (who use it EVERY day, who NEVER upgrade, who NEVER buy lotion, who cancel at the minimum).

To add to Sunsallys comments. If you're going to sell membersips you need to go all in or don't offer them at all IMO. Selling memberships should be your primary goal. Simply adding a membership option to your offerings isn't going to give you the greatest results.

Re: EFT Rookie needs help

Great comments, thanks! A couple more questions...Do you require a signed form when the client wants out of the contract? And I assume if a month is charged, there is no refunding of an unused month.

Re: EFT Rookie needs help

we have a $22.00 sign up fee. We have 6 month and 9 month contracts, 9 months being a little cheaper than 6 months.

Re: EFT Rookie needs help

We don't have a signup fee, however our membership is 12 months with a 6 month minimum, so if they cancel before 6 months there is a 49.99 charge.
Just a question too..how many active members do you guys have?

We currently have funds drawn from credit/debit card OR checking/savings account, however, I wouldn't mind dropping the checking/savings option cuz it's been a pain.

We don't use a signup fee. We experimented with having one, not having one, and having an optional joiner fee that lets you cancel early if you want.

We're currently doing no joiner, 6 month minimum for simplicity.

Re: EFT Rookie needs help

Can the contract be on-going vs a 6, 9, or month contract? I am thinking that there may be customers that would use the requirement of re-signing a new contract as an excuse to terminate the agreement.

Also, what do you do with the credit card information on the agreement? I think there is some issues with having this type of information stored on site at the salon?

Re: EFT Rookie needs help

My eft was ongoing. I stated it in their contract. they had to quit with a written notice after their year commitment for it to stop. I sold that as it secured their pricing for as long as they wanted to tan with me.
