Music

We have always put boom boxes in the tanning rooms for customers to use. But I am getting sick of these radios getting broken, the cutomers playing them too loud, etc....

What are the rest of you doing for music? None? Piped in with no choice for the customers? Something else?

I am looking for options.

Thanks

Re: Music

toasted - so you have individual speakers in each room, but 1 station for the entrie salon? If so, what do you do if someone requests a different station?

Re: Music

We have 2 salons - one with radios in each room & one salon with nothing. THe one with radios does have a problem with radios breaking, etc. but that's like everything else. The salon WITHOUT radios has beds that are fast--max time in bed is 15 mins. so we tell them to bring their IPODS to listen to that way no one is bothered!

Re: Music

We have headphones in the rooms with the boom boxes. I know that could be a theft problem for some, but I've only had one set stolen in 2 years.

Re: Music

Check out M&S they make a pretty inexpensive system with an intercom integrated if you choose to use it. They install simple with CAT5 wire. They're designed for residential but I have installed them in about 20 salons and every one loves them. It has several aux inputs so you can have a mp3 player or cd changer or just play the radio. Pretty nice set up for about $50 to $60 bucks a room and the control unit is about $450 bucks.
And you can make your own music mix on an mp3 player and record your own commercials with promos and what not mixed in.

Re: Music

I just put on one station with individual volume controls and that control their speaker. Sometime people request a different station, but not too often. Others just turn their music off all together. But this doesnt happen very often.

Re: Music

There are several sites that sell them. So shop around to find best pricing. One is Home Technology Store. They sell a DMC1 kit that comes with everything you will need but only 3 speaker so you would have to order additional speakers and rough in plates. The kit is $620 with three speaker.
