Re: Whats in your tanning rooms?

I wouldn't put stickers, baby wipes, deoderant or that kind of thing in the rooms as you are trying to get them to exit as quickly as possible.

I set up a vanity w/those things outside the rooms. Otherwise you are losing money. Also, people behind closed doors steal the most ridiculous things, or waste them. It's so wierd.

Re: Whats in your tanning rooms?

We have the tanning beds, a chair (in all but one, small room), towels, baby wipes, trash can, and a mirror. Most of our rooms also have hooks for jackets/ clothes.

Each of your tanning rooms should act as a sales person. While the tanner is undressing and dressing they are staring at walls. Give them something that will encourage sales. I suggest at least three separate advertisements in each room that are changed regularly. A lotion promotion, an upgrade promotion, a spray promotion or even promoting other services in the salon. It is like having a sales person in the room.

This is what I mean when I suggest creating a buying environment in a salon.

Too many salons waste valuable advertising space with pictures and decor that are unrelated to the products you sell.

This is one of those changes that I suggest salon owners make that will have a positive impact on sales.

Re: Whats in your tanning rooms?

So cool reading all of these!! Nice to see what people do in there salons! We offer the following wipes in all higher pressure/medium pressure units, towel, goggles, deodorant, 3 different stickers, and of course a mint. We have two vanity's at the end of the hallways that have baby wipes and tissues.

Why do you offer all of that for free?

You can add tons of money to your bottom line by not providing goggles, deodorant (I would NEVER use a public deodorant to begin with, eww), stickers and wipes.

Sell these items, don't give them away.

We do this Steve, we have two posters on the wall that are changed on a bi-weekly basis and a small stand on the counter with the tissues.

However, we recently ran a test on the small sign offering a free lotion packet to whoever mentions they seen the ad at the front desk.... had VERY poor results.
