Rep Power: 0 | What do you sell in your salon? I am thinking about bringing in some items that are not tanning related. Besides tanning, what else do you sell in your salon? Is it worth it to bring in other items? Does it take away from amount spent on tanning? thank you! |

Seriously though, we make more on that than any other side item we sell except lotions. Granted, we have plenty of parking for the trucks & trailers which is why they aproached us. If that interests you pm me and I'll find a local area mangager to contact you. |

Quilts, afghans, wooden shelves, wooden toilet paper holders, and so many other things. It was next to impossible to keep that place dusted until she finally stopped carrying all of that stuff! She sold hair products too, but she also had a hair salon and in my state unless there is a cometologist/hair person employed you can't sell that stuff. She actually did very well with the hair stuff though. Of course this was before lotions were what they were - literally AG accelerator was all we sold until Swedish Beauty introduced its first tingle with the white bottle and the blue cap to set you on fire! That's when $35.00 a bottle (8oz) was a lot and people were paying the full $30 - $35 per session in the brand new HP units that you could tan in 3 sessions starting 20 min per side and work up to 40 min per side! |

The truth is the more you sell , the more you make. Yesterday the sale of porcilian dolls put me up $100 over last year. Not many come in during a blizzard. I've had $0 days in tanning and $300 or more in swimwear. One year around Christmas time I got a deal on some Amish made rocking horses, I cleared over $2000 on them. Another year I got a deal on 4 skids of toys. Every inch of the salon was toys. They sold like crazy, And we had alot of fun. What was left a week before xmas we donated to a local charity. | |

Rep Power: 16 | Re: What do you sell in your salon? I'm all for selling additional items, IF they're tanning/salon related. We don't sell much additional stuff, because it's never really worked for us. We've tried beach bags, toe rings, etc. We do okay with sunglasses, and I'm going to try a few jewelry products closer to "season." But I, personally, would think it would be very strange to see my tanning salon selling bible covers, porcelain dolls, amish items, etc. That's not my thing. If it works for you, I get the bathing suits, beach towels, bags, jewelry, etc. Other than that, I don't get it. |

Rep Power: 23 | Re: What do you sell in your salon? The reason most salons can not sell "OTHER" reatial is becuase they sell the same old stuff you see every where. Just as you can not run your salon the same way the guy down the street runs his salon, You can not sell the same rings that every one else is selling. Items you sell must be special and different. That gets pretty tough when selling the normal salon items. |
