I work the counters all the time. If you dont work the counters you
lose the pulse of your business!

Seriously tony? I wouldn't of guessed you personally worked in any of your salons? Really? Wow, if so.

Oh...thought it was more simply a business thing...build em...have others run em...and sit back relax and live Naples style...ahhh, the life.

Shop mercado, happy hour at blue martini...walk downtown Naples, the pier...cruise Gordan dr...drive up 41 to coconut point...

Work? Really? Why? :)

The building is very important but the drive for excellence is what governs me.
Entrepreneurs what to build and excel. One without the other is not rewarding.

I never shop at Mercado, go to Blue Martini, walk 5th ave or the pier.
Gordon Dr is out of the way and i only go to coconut point to visit our store there!

I would never obsess about our POS software or our timer system if I
never used either right? I will visit and work the stores regardless of
how big we get. I do indoor tanning because I love it. Not just because
its a way to make money! How else would i care to do the stuff I do?

You cant figure all this out working back at the office!

Re: How often do you work in your salon weekly?

I've been back and forth on this one. The past 6 months I got frustrated with team members and I have to say I got tired of training new people. I've let go of any under 18's however they were often my best employees because it was their first job and they wanted to impress and usually did! I came back to work the counter and gave some of them time off to re-think their jobs. Needless to say sales are up well over 100%. I think I'll do this another month then bring in a new team besides 2 I have that work 20 hours total and see if we can start fresh!

Re: How often do you work in your salon weekly?

Same for me I've had mine for 1.5 years and have worked everyday and every hour since alone. Mon - Fri 10AM to 8PM Sat 10AM - 3PM Sun closed...Doesn't bring in enough to pay for help. I am close to closing as it is. I may only have a month or 2 left if it doesn't pick up a lot.

Re: How often do you work in your salon weekly?

You should never run any retail business without staff, if the store can't afford staff, then it has failed. If you work alone or with little staff, what will you do when you get sick or have an emergency?

I do agree with Tony, if you want to be the best, you should be in the store every day.
