Rep Power: 0 | OMG...I need a Tabitha Salon Makeover I have to vent: I've been in business for a long time and my staff just makes me not give a crap anymore. They do nothing extra, forget about product (lotions)sales, some ask and some don't. If I address them i'm the b#tch, and the attidude comes out. OH yeah they do me a favor when they work. Last I new I PAID THEM. I wish Tabitha can come visit me I need an outsider to see it and address it. I hate that alot of my customers are not spenders! It seems I just attract them! thanks |

Re: OMG...I need a Tabitha Salon Makeover Time for the wake up call Special. What you do is start bringing in new blood one person at a time. Get yourself a really mature person...someone who gets it and understands the mission. The mission is to weed out the dirty laundry one piece at a time. It works, I promise. Your new "GM" starts peeling back hours and enforcing the rules and you may have one or two quit. Yeah! Then you slowly bring in 1 or 2 other new folks and cut the hours of the old crew. Watch them run out the door. Make sure your new front runner is aligned with you...then watch things start turning around. | |

Keep it professional and they will respect you. And if they don't FIRE THEM. Lack of management on your part will cost you your livelyhood and your money. To them, it's just a job, they'll go work somewhere else, it's not like they are CEO's or executives. They can go work at McDonalds...doesn't matter to them. By you not caring, you are letting them run your business, when it's you that's supposed to be running it. Pull up your pants and start being an owner. It should have never gotten to this point.

(well any panties for that matter...lol) I agree with Din, you have to keep it professional. When I got too friendly with some of the girls they took it as if I was on their level and stopped treating me like the boss. Calling me hon...which is a big no no for me, I can't tolerate it when anyone calls me that, especially an 18 year old handing me food through a drive up window! oops sorry got distracted I've had to let a few go because of lack of respect and lack of work. Wasn't personal but I had to look out for my business. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: OMG...I need a Tabitha Salon Makeover Any customer can be a spender - IF the product and service is sold correctly to them (that is not an acceptable excuse!) The only reason your employees are not doing what they are supposed to is because you let them get away with it. They know at the end of the day they are going to have a job whether or not they tell people about current specials or whatever it may be. The first time you notice a problem you NEED to address it, tell them this is a verbal warning, if it happens again write them up, and if it happens again they are GONE! Obviously your employees don't have very much respect for you because even if they were your friend and knew they would get away with stuff they would still try and improve the salons sales and their own for that matter. If you want to keep your current employees you are going to need to go in there and tell them this needs to be done if it isn't you will be written up for it - end of question if it happens again your fired. Bringing someone new in would be great as well, you could use this as an opportunity to get rid of some of your weaker employees who you know don't care and bring in new ones. If the old employees care enough about their job they are going to start respecting and following the rules again! This shouldn't be a problem in salons, I know it is sometimes hard because you don't want to hurt someones feeling because you are close with them, but they should understand work is work - you might be their best friend outside of work, but at work you are their boss and the MUST respect you as they would any other boss - just because you are their friend doesn't mean they can slack off, they should want to help you out!!! |
