Rep Power: 0 | Behind the counter - customer lotion storage solutions? Hey all, Like I'm sure many of you, we offer to store customer's lotions and eye protection behind the counter (in named ziploc bags) for convenience. The problem is that we're starting to run out of room in the drawers, and it's getting to be a bit of a pain in the neck to rummage through the bags trying to find a name. We've tried doing the alphabetical order thing, and being a little more tidy about it, but I figure someone must have a more elegant solution for this than drawers full of ziploc bags haha :) Any ideas? |

How many active customers do you have? The time you spend looking for lotion could be used for selling more lotion to other customers. Just my .02

Rep Power: 19 | Re: Behind the counter - customer lotion storage solutions? We store ours in ziploc bags in plastic bins/drawers (about 8 of them) in our back room. We used to allow anyone to store their lotion, but about a year ago we changed that to ONLY EFT members. We still have a few people's lotions who aren't EFT members from before we implemented the rule. But mostly just EFT members. Its another benefit to them for being a member. Also, we will only keep them for 6 months and then they go in a box in storage (my garage). After a year of them not coming in, its trashed. |

Rep Power: 19 | Re: Behind the counter - customer lotion storage solutions? About two years ago, we bought a Storage Rack from Uline. It holds about 50 cubby containers. We put this in as an incentive for people who buy lotions from us, if they are a consistent tanner. We also review the rack periodically to remove lotions for customers that have been inactive for a long period of time. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Behind the counter - customer lotion storage solutions? Why not take advantage of the fact people want to leave their lotion there and charge a monthy fee to store their lotion at the salon. Lets say you charge $5 or $10 a month which you could tack on to EFT memberships or any other package. This could either generate a bit more income or it will help reduce the number of people who leave their stuff at your salon. I would also find a way to display the lotions. A new customer may come in and see what clients are using. Could help in sales. |

Rep Power: 28 | Re: Behind the counter - customer lotion storage solutions? I only store EFT clients in a pretty huge floating cabinet under my lotion display. If they cancel, they get tossed, if they default and they dont rectify they are canceled and we confiscate the lotion and use it for samples.

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Behind the counter - customer lotion storage solutions? mostly just our EFTs leave lotion, but we have a nice shelf adjacent to the lotion display we keep them on and face the most popular and/or expesive bottles out. it does get people to ask "what about those" and we say those are customers lotions. Maybe a little bit of keeping up with the Jones, cause usually if they are buying, they buy one just like one of those. |

A. They stop at the salon on the way to or from work and don't want to carry lotion all day. B. You can better judge how much they have left. C. While finding the lottion you end up having a conversation that can be beneficial. We keep ours alphabetically in plastic bins in a cabinet behind the counter. | ||
