My doc at the time told my parents to let me tan two or three times a week and see where that got me, because the meds weren't helping. Been tanning ever since and it makes a huge differance in my moods. This is also why I've worked at a tanning salon my whole life, tanning free is super and I can give clients my experience when they question if it helps. |

Has anyone thought of direct mailing local area doctors to bring this to their attention in a more forthright manner as an avenue of increasing market share of their salon? What were your results? What would be involved for you to start taking prescriptions directly from the Doctors office and submitting the insurance claim for the client? We've been preparing to start a guerilla marketing campaign for our spray tanning services to office managers at local dermatology offices, but I've been thinking we could expand it for both UV and Spray tanning in a single marketing device if prepared properly.... | |

When I first started my salon, I made nice w/the dermatologists in my town and was able to put our spray tan brochures in their offices. What I think is funny is that we actually have quite a few Dr.'s, including an oncologist that UV tan in our salon. Go figure. I'd be very careful with your marketing though making sure nothing could be construed as "medical claims".

My marketing would be directed at the Dr's themselves. Dermatologists would get the spray tan marketing for vitiligo, etc. Where psychiatrists would get it for depression & SAD. Endocrinologists would get the one geared towards Vitamin D deficiencies specifically. Oncologists would get the one regarding Vitamin D and the current research towards melanoma, breast cancers, etc... They would be the ones providing the medical advice and making the referral to us. |
