Rep Power: 18 | PCI Compliant I must be looking in the wrong area because I can't seem to find any thread on this site about it. Can someone steer me in the right direction to sum up these emails I keep receiving? thanks for any help |

Re: PCI Compliant I have had to do this with 2 different companies. One has an electronic scan of my internet connection to see if I am properly protecting client CC data, the other was a self survey that I filled out on line. Both are to determine that proper procedures are in place to protect the data. I had to comply or be charged an additional amount monthly. By complying they also gave me protection against identity theft traced back to the salon. Another issue is the older processing equipment, it may not be meeting the new standards. Hope this helps a bit. | |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: PCI Compliant I suggest everyone to read this article in tanning trends or online. http://smarttan.epubxpress.com/wps/p...UlRqpCAAqNxr9/ BUT take it for what its worth,it was written by someone who is making a profit on it. Then look at your statements to verify you are not being charged for the excess fees by your credit card processing company. There are a number of companies that charge extra for this service or farm it out to "compliance" companies when Credit card companies should be responsible for this. I changed CC processors for the simple reason that they were charging me for compliance done through a third party that offered NO security what so ever.Only a self assessment questionaire to verify your security level, not even a scan.Basically an open book or honesty test. How is this offering my customers protection? When I hammered the compliance company with questions like.."What exactly am i paying $140 dollars for?"..they were unable to answer that, they only continued to reiterate that it was nationally enforced. When i asked them if i could use another compliance company, they kept pushing me back to their "preferred" company even though i was entitled to use anyone that was on the list. When they offered to reduce the fee by 40 bucks if i stayed with their preferred company.i knew it was time to start digging. I placed another call later that day, attempting to change the compliance provider,i was greeted by a rude person who try to sell me on the idea that it would be less hassle for me If i just stuck with the current provider and 40 buck a year wasn't really worth my time to hunt around for a better price. Then i knew it was time to find a new CC processor.i found a company that does not charge for compliance nor does it farm its compliance out to other companies,it is all done in house and abides by the national PCI requirement. There are a lot of CC processors that will not charge for PCI compliance depending on your merchant level, number of transactions, and type of connection you use. I suggest anyone who has received a charge for compliance by their CC processor or 3rd party compliance company make sure you are getting what your paying for. |
