Re: Employees calling out...cut hours or let go? I swear, that is why I don't hire anymore unless you pay rent or have a mortgage. Otherwise, I had to work "around" their social life. I had that happen back when I hired teenagers. Same thing, only scheduled a few hours but always wanting them covered by others as they had an event. Not that we suffered because they were covered, but I figured HEY, I will help you out and give you more social freedom. So, I just cut the hours drastically and when she asked why I just said sorry I don't have the hours to give you right now. Did that through the month. She totally got the message because when I kicked the hours back up she TOOK them and the problem stopped. | |

She started going through a phase where she would wait until an hour before her shift and then call in. I am really good about scheduling around their requested days off. But its not fair to everyone else when they have to cover at the last minute. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Employees calling out...cut hours or let go? We also have an employee that contantly calls in or calls me wanting to get someone to come in for her b/c she is sick. Well her sales are GREAT... but thats about the only thing that is great. She leaves the salon in shambles, and like I said she calls in contantly... The only thing that I can tell you is to let her go. The one thing that you have to have in a small business is DEPENDABLE employees! I mean thats great that she keeps the salon clean, and is nice. But that is not the only thing that the job requires. Hope this helps. |
