I have tried a lot of stuff in the past only to rot on inventory. I realize that some best sellers are area specific but I am looking for new popular things to sell.

i cant sell crap lately....what i would suggest is bundleing lotions and tanning for 1 heck of a deal....

if your talking about adding retail like sunglasses,candles,jewelry,etc...id recommend you keep that money in the bank till economy picks up!

If the economy treads well this year I plan to bring in Illume candles. I have dealt with them before. Great product, great profits and they are rare around here. Other than that, I will not be adding anything. In fact when I took over I removed a lot, literally trashed it.

We only carry tanning related retail. We do sell our salon tees and tanks, but they don't generate much to speak of.

Poll your customers, and ask them what they would like to see you offer. I have had my customers fill out surveys twice in 10 years. I offer a free tan to anyone who fills it out. The people who want the free tan must disclose who they are. They will reveal their true feelings of your salon - the good and bad. Be prepared for their responses.

We sell a great line of skin care. Sold it for 12 years and it does about 13% of our business. Great add on for our salon.

sunglasses have always sold well for us.

we also sell our tees and tanks too. we keep the price low, not much profit but gets your name out there. in feb we get new ones made and give them away with three months package purchase or EFT sign ups.

Purses have been a HUGE hit for me this year. But now every tanning salon in the town next to me is doing it now so I'm not sure how long my streak will last.

We did real good on purses for a few months also...now you see them everywhere. Went from circle flap to the animal print bags.
