Best Marketing/Advertising Effort?

What was your salon's best advertising/marketing effort, what did you see the most return on? I just want to get some ideas

Re: Best Marketing/Advertising Effort?

Good signage and exposure to major street as Drive by's are our #1 as to how did you hear about us.

2nd is referals so have a good referal program.

We have done a few different direct mailers but the one that works best is a magazine style one we use. Consistancy is key...don't just do it one or two times.

Also, MySpace has done well for us.

I am all about direct mail. Its direct to the client even if they have never driven by your place, you can target certain demographics and by having them bring the car in you know the effectiveness.

How much do you spend annually on direct mail? How often do you do your mailings? Do you do birthdays or random offers?

Sorry--Lots of q's.

Re: Best Marketing/Advertising Effort?

Customer receives $5 credit for everyone they refer which can be used for tanning, upgrades, lotion...whatever they want.

Direct Mail we spend $2k plus which includes magazine mailer (30k plus homes) 5-6 times a year, b'day postcards monthly and salon anniversary sale postcards to our database.

For marketing campaigns to be very effective, You should be spending at least 10% of your gross income on advertising a year.

So if you gross $150,000 you should be spending $15k a year in advertising.

Direct Mail every other month is most effective!
