Numbers were strong all year...better than last year...then started tapering off in June and then suddenly on July 3 I could hear the crickets rubbing their legs it got so dead. I knew from past years it would slow down but COME THE HECK ON, THIS IS CRAZY!

With number of tanners down everywhere this time of year is anyone offering back to school specials? This is my first year in business and I really am at a loss we are in a small rural area where tanning prices regardless of bed size are low compared to what I have seen posted here.

Sales have been pretty good all year. Our first two weeks of July were great, I'm sittin back thinking "JASON Who?"...... and then July 14th hit. It's like the bottom fell out.Our numbers have been crap ever since the 14th.

Never mind that. August is a good time to buy as you will get to know the salon and get things ready for next year.

This economic downturn is temporary as the gas prices aren't going up too much higher before they start to come down. Tanning is down cause people are broke and need to justify not spending money and for a country filled with 3rd graders that means TRASHING whatever you shouldn't be spending money on.

This is why we get people that should be ground up as road tar coming in, handing over money while saying I KNOW I SHOULDN'T BE DOING THIS which means I'M NOT SPENDING MONEY ON GOGGLES AND LOTION EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE 2 THINGS THAT WILL COUNTERACT WHATEVER DAMAGE YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

Mental cases out there.

Having spray tannign that people love, Our sales are kickin....85%of our people do the spray tan. adn the area im in all soccer moms and corperate women...so they Love their spray.. sooo We shall see, but my sales are increasing monthly by 1000$ or more....pretty pumped..

Yeah, my hindsight thought process (I had no idea about JASON when I started all this) is that I can have a chance to learn, learn, learn while things are relatively slow. If I'm going to screw something up, I can do it with 20 people instead of 200 ;)

Between my distributor and this site, I've already learned SO much that I'm chomping on the bit to get in there and give the salon the kick in the butt it needs.

I agree with Northshorerob...it is somewhat reassuring to know that its not just our salon!

Each month so far this year we have been up 30-40% over the same month last year. HOwever, it looks like our July may not even make it to what we did last year!!! What the h**l happened? I mean, I could deal with making at least what we did last July, but not less....especially since all other months we have been up at least 30%!!!

Anything thing we can do...other than sit back and wait for JASON to be over. Any specials that won't hurt us to bad, but may bring in some money??

Do any of you advertise during JASON???

my guess is.. the reason why we all saw the dip in sales around the same time, was because the economic stimulus checks came and were spent around the same time that gas went so high, that $$ from the checks are long gone, gas is still high..

lets all hope the second ESP happens...
