Smart move,you are a survivor.

Hey bud, my earlier post didn't read the way I meant for it to. It's great that you are getting customers back to due to the higher gas prices. But, you must take this opportunity to find out why they were tanning somewhere farther away to begin with, and work to change that. That's what I was trying to say. Good luck out there. Hope this helps.

Re: Gas Prices changing your biz?

Hello Everyone! I'm new here, but I just wanted to comment on this topic, also. You joked about running a special in June - tanning session for the price of a gallon of gas. I am actually doing a similiar special. Bring in your gas receipt and get that amount off any 1 year membership or 10% of the gas receipt off any monthly package. We will honor up to a 15 gallon gas purchase. Around here, you offer anything that is in conjunction with GAS and people go for it. As far as sales go, we are up 8% this month in product sales from last year. I purchased this salon 9 months ago. So being under new ownership, new staff, adding impulse buys and the economy, I think we are doing pretty good. We also promote our lotions for outdoor use. Try your special for a week and see what responses you get. With the economy the way it is, even what you might think are the silliest promotions are a huge bargain to your clients. Good Luck, Roberta

Re: Gas Prices changing your biz?

We tried this last weekend..

a FREE $50 gas card --

For every tanning lotion bottle purchase.. you received an entry in to a drawing for a $50 gas card... just for entering the contest, you get 3 FREE tans...

We sold 9 bottles Friday, and 12 on Saturday... 4 on sunday...at average of $52 a bottle.. it was a nice 3 day event.. I time it to coencide with a big pay weekend..

I am thinking I will do it every other weekend.. we tan about 200 people per day mon-fri and 100 Sat, 70 Sunday..

So getting those non-traditional buyers to try a bottle was cool..

Gas is def affecting my salon. what i see is alot less )almost none)single visits. u now the car load of kids that drive by see a salon and pull in for 1 visit a lotion pack and winkies....also i have some regular clients buying smaller packages..LOTIONS OVER $30 FUGETABOUTIT!!

I just brought in the DS Splash line to have more low end choices..
